You can also tell your teachers to save the files as word97-2003,
instead of the later version they are probably using. This may
help, I am not sure. You may want to try having them save as rtf
(rich text format) as well if the older Word version does not do
it.

Sadly you will need a computer to read any complex MS
Word documents. The BrailleNote is a PDA and many
mobile devices have trouble with complex MS Word
documents. Humanware has promised that they will come
out with a working version - a promise made years ago.
You may use a computer to change the documents into RTF
or txt files and move them to the BrailleNote to work
on.
