Hi, Josh and List, I corrected the spelling of Keysoft in the subject line.
I would like to comment about your suggestion for a braille music translator. The only print-to-braille music translator on the market is a program called Goodfeel sold by Dancing Dots. As you know, third-party software can't be used on the BN. Although I haven't used this software, I have read about its features and drawbacks from the Dancing Dots web site. There are two major drawbacks: (1) The program doesn't always translate the print into proper braille music so sighted assistance is needed to proofread and edit the file before it's translated into braille. (2) The software cannot translate braille music notation into print so you cannot make copies for sighted people.
Another aspect of implementing braille music into the BN is the speech must be able to say the music correctly. HumanWare would have to come up with a dictionary or vocabulary for the speech. They would also have to create a braille music table and add commands so a person could switch from grade 2 braille to braille music. Even if they were able to implement Goodfeel, there would be no translation from braille to print.
The idea of full support for Nemeth Code has similar problems. There's no back translation from Nemeth into text. Braille tables plus speech dictionary and vocabulary would need to be implemented. Nemeth Code is not just numbers and simple arithmetic, it includes lots of symbols for higher math and scientific notation which most blind people probably don't know unless they are studying higher math and science.
The same thing is true for braille music: most blind people don't know it. How many people would use it?
