I hate to say this on this list, but it sounds like you used a
classic. The braille sense plus and voice sense are great units,
though I have never used one. You forgot many features that the
bn does not have:
run up to 7 tasks at once and have a task manager
built-in wifi with wifi on/off hotkey
keylock switch
media keys
place markers, speed adjustment, and other advanced features in
the media player
dsl, vga, and (I think) ps/2 jacks (bsp only, not on the vs
The bn, as you said, has the dictionary, but it also has:
support for importing csv files
a text game interpreter
the ability to run cmd (though the senseNotes may have this and
no one has found it yet
two host usb ports (the others only have one host and one slave
thumb keys (the scroll keys are on the side of the display, kind
of like bn pk, and the front has media keys
support for multiple languages (though at the moment that is not
all that good in the bn, but at least it is there; the senseNotes
only work in English
Each unit has major pros and cons, but as it stands now the
senseNote is better for entertainment (advanced media player,
media keys in front, msn messenger) and the bn is better for a
quickly understood interface and tasks like wordprocessing and
games. If you want my opinion, I like the senseNotes more
because they have much more memory and faster processors, plus
the media keys, built-in wifi, and so on, but I like my bn more
for its ease of use and, though some will disagree, keynote gold
speech (gwm uses eloquence for its notetakers).
Have a great day,
Alex

Subject: [Braillenote] comparison between braillenote and
braillesense
Hi list. There have recently been people on this list wondering
about the braille sease. I have used one of these this summer.
I am an expert on the braille sense, but I'll do my best to give
you my opinions on both the braillenote, and the braille sense.
In my opinion, one of the major drawbacks of the braille sense is
its non-user friendly interface. The braille sense isn't
something you can just give to anyone, and expect them to learn
how to use it in a few days. The braillenote is much easier to
work with. Also, the braille sense calculator has no fraction
capability. The braille sense has an lcd that a sighted person
can look at, but the thing is so small, that a sighted observer
would have a hard time reading it. The braille sense also has no
dictionary or thesaurus. Also, the reset button is located in
the stupidest place, right on the front of the unit. It is not
recessed to prevent accidental use, or anything. Another thing I
have heard about the braille sense is that if the battery needs
to be replaced, you will loose all data on the flashdisk.
The braille sense also has some features that the braillenote
doesn't have, but not many. The braille sense supports msn
messenger. Also, the user can replace the battery without
sending the unit in for service. In fact, the unit comes with a
backup battery.
final conclusion: In my opinion, I think the mpower is a much
better choice.
