Hi Zach,
Perhaps I should explain some user interface types for our friend...
Many computers these days use some kind of interface to interact with users.
Two of the popular interface types are Graphical User Interface (GUI) and
Command Line Interface (CLI). A graphical user interface is the interface
type that we are somewhat familiar with - graphical menus, icons, dialogs,
etc. We interact with these elements via clicks and dragging icons and so on
(in our terms, via screen reading technology). Command line interface, on
the other hand, uses series of strings printed on a computer screen to
display information. An example would be interactive fiction games, where a
series of text is displayed on the braille display. When the computer
program requires input, users type commands so that the operation can be
carried out. For instance, on MS-DOS prompt where you want to change
directory, you would type:
cd "path" where path is the directory path e.g. C: that you want to switch
to.
On the BrailleNote, as you may know, there is a cmd.exe program, located at
KeySoft System Disk/Windows folder. This program is essentially a stripped
down version of cmd.exe found on regular Windows. You type in commands at
the "command line" prompt, such as:
/k dir \Windows > directory of KS Disk.txt
Where "/k" parameter is used to tell cmd that we want to use KS-specifric
commands, "dir" is short for "directory" i.e. to view file and folder
structure of a drive or a folder, \Windows is the directory path for KeySoft
System Disk/Windows, ">" is the redirctor switch where the cmd should direct
the command output, and "directory.txt" is the file to which cmd should save
its output. After series of commands has been entered, press ENTER to
"execute" i.e. run the program.
Hope it made sense.
Cheers,
Joseph

But what's the command line prompt? Isn't that to upgrade the
device?
