Hi,
He could make a database similar to the one Zach proposed.
You could then fill in each studen name and the date for one day.
Then, copy those records into a csv file, (one of the options in
the database menu), change all the dates in that file to the next
day, and import them into the database.
Do this till all applicable dates are covered.
When you take the roll-call for a particular day, enter the
database and select all records with "today" in the date field.
As you go through, set each "was student present" field value
appropriately.
That sounds a bit fiddly.
Might be quicker to set up the database with one days worth of
records all filled in, including the "was the student present"
field all set to "no".
Copy that to a csv file.
Empty the database of all those records.
(Could do that by erasing the .cdb file then use the database to
recreate it).
I saved the csv file as p.csv and chose the first row as field
names during the copy.
Enter the csv file and change all the date values, (there should
be only one), to the word today using a find and replace
<backspace>f all occurrences.
Use another replace all to change all "no" to "*".
The csv file I got ended each record with a space, but would not
import the file till I changed all "<space>" into "<newline>",
also had to delete the space at the end of the file and enter a
newline.
(New line is <space><dots 2 and 6>.
Exit the file leaving it as .csv.
Now for each day, copy that file, this is so you have a template
file, and the copy is the one you change and then import.
In the roll-call, enter the copied .csv file, find "*" and for
each response change the "*" to "n" or "y" as necessary.
When you import that file, all the "today" values are made into
that day's date and all "n" and "y" become "no" and "yes".
To edit the .csv file you need <space>x for all files else the
wordprocessor wont see it, (in all documents).
Hope that made sense.
Regards,
Steve.

Subject: [Braillenote] what utility can be used for keeping
attendancerecords?
Hi all.
I have a friend who is teaching. He doesn't like to keep the
attendance
record on his computer. He wants to take the attendance using the
bn (mPower
qt 32) and keep records on the bn. Is there a program on the BN
he can use?
One way I could think of was to make a file with the students
names and
other details. Mark them absent or present on the day of the
class and save
that file as that date i.e. oc6_2008 and so on. Is it possible to
do it
without having to create many files? It will be hell lot of job
looking in
each file for each student at the end of the semester.
Thanks for suggestions.
Regards
TaraPrakash
