1. Does the Braillenote freeze? Occasionally, mostly when you are using the web browser. When this happens, you press the reset button and ten seconds later you are back up and running. No information is lost, including speech settings and other options; it is all always saved. 2. Can the bn work in Arabic or Hebrew? No. I am not even sure if a braille table exists for those languages, but if so then Humanware should look into this. 3. Can the bn work with a pc? If you mean synchronization, yes; it can sync contacts, calendar, and other things that I cannot remember as I do not use the program; it cannot synchronize email messages, though. It can also connect through ActiveSync and you can view the files stored on the bn in Windows, through the "mobile device" item in the "my computer" folder on a pc. You can also use the bn as either a remote braille display or remote speech synthesizer for JAWS, and possibly other screen readers, though I am not sure about that. 4. Can the bn display grade 2 braille in non-grade 2 files? Yes, but you still have to edit in computer braille. Say you open a Microsoft Word file. You can view it in whatever grade you want, but as soon as you edit you must type in computer braille and if you put your cursor on a word that word will expand from grade 2 to computer braille for editing.
I hope this all makes sense, and do not worry about asking too many questions; that is why we are hear. Also, welcome to the bn list!! I use a PAC Mate Omni, but I want to a few things about the Brailleationote. >First of all, does the Brailleationote have a tendency to freeze? If so, what do you do about it? >Second of all, is there software that enables the Brailleationote to work in Arabic or Hebrew? >Third of all, can you use a Brailleationote with a typical PC? >LASTLY, can you set the Brailleationote to read or write in Grad # Braille outside of a Grade 2 file? >A lot of questions. I hope that's ok. Thanks a lot. >Haya. _______________________________________________ BrailleNote mailing list [email protected] http://list.humanware.com/mailman/listinfo/braillenote
