The transplant option made available to BrailleNote Classic models
involved taking the original braille display and moving this display
into an mPower kit that consisted of a new pcb board, batteries and
newer interface connections and new case to accommodate the new options.
Many of these braille displays are now approaching nine years of
consistent use and the electronics in any display that old will begin to
fail. So for clarification, it is not the transplant that is failing but
the aging braille display. In some cases we are able to repair these
displays but many are at the point were they need to be replaced.

Hi there. No, none of the theories that have been suggested I have
found to be correct. What you need to do.
1. Take out all cards, and storage devices.
2. Connect your ac adapter if nearby
3 Ensure the charger gives the appropriate message. That is, ac adapter
on.
4 Press the reset and record buttons together until you hear the beep.
You can then let them go. If your unit is an np, you will read upon the
display, starting keysoft. Good luck, Blake.

It would be interesting to know if transplants have more problems.

Yes, I think so.
My friend has a transplant, and she has had nuthing but problems with
her braille display.
I have a new one, and my braille display gave out only once in the 4
years that I had had it, and that
partly was my own fault.

Thanks to those who answered my questions. I have decided to just leave
it;
one of my USB ports is busted, so I would not be able to use it on the
bn
even if I did reformat it.
Once again, Merry Christmas, or whatever you celebrate.

Nicole

Hello Nicole, the only hard drives that will work at this time
are F-A-T format. If your drive doesn't work, it's probably a
NTFS format. I don't know if NTFS format hard drives can be
reformatted to F-A-T, but if it could, you should be able to use
it with your BN.
Good luck.

Sincerely,
John

Actually, I have had two transplants, both performed in early 2006 and
never
had problems with the braille displays.

Hi guys,

I was wondering if there's a web based version of skype that'll work
on the BrailleNote, so that I can at least get on there and text chat
with friends. I don't always have the chance go go on skype as I don't
always have access to the computer, so if I can get onto a web based
version of skype that'd be cool!
\
All the best and thanks in advance for any info you may have.

Siena.

Hi,

Have you tried doing a directory and searching for all including
hidden?
Another way to check for files is to use utilities, application,
choose cmd.exe in the KeySoft System Disk/windows and enter "/k
dir/s *.* >dir.txt" at the prompt.
This will put a file in the System Disk none folder called
dir.txt containing a directory of your whole Flash Disk.
Look through that for ".jpg".

Regards,
Steve.
