The message below references CF cards up to 64MB. How large an SD card witll
the BN accommodate? Also when upgrading the firmware of the BN, am I correct
that one must have no larger than a 512MB CF or SD card before this will
work?

The drives exist, but not many work with the bn; I am not sure of any that
do, but I know that some will because I got one to work once.
Unfortunately, it was just a cd drive in a hard drive enclosure so it did
not really have an official brand, and I had to reset before it would be
recognized. As to a bunch of disks being cheaper than a cf card, I am not
sure about that. One 32 or 64gb cf card can hold a LOT; one cd holds only
700mb (.7gb).
So even a 32gb card holds about 47 CDs by my quick math. It may be cheaper
(depending on many factors) but it will be a lot more convenient to store
things on one card than on 40 disks that you have to label and keep track
of, especially when you cannot put braille labels right on the disk itself
like you can a cf card.
Just my opinion.

Have a great day,
Alex

>Hi List,

>I just posted a question about increasing the size of the Braille
Note's hard drive. If that is not possible, another idea for storing my
files might be CDs. I figure buying a bunch of CDs would be cheaper than
buying multiple compact flash cards or storage drives that fit into the BN's
USB port.

>However, that thought brought up 2 questions for me. Fist, I
know the BN doesn't have its own CD ROM, so is there such a thing as an
external CD ROM (for example, a device that hooks to a computer or pda via a
USB cable). And second, if such CD ROMs exist, has anyone been successful
in using one with their braille note?

>I'd love to hear your thoughts on the matter. Thanks so much.
