Folks, This has gotten way out of hand.
Don't ever forget the wealth of advantages your BrailleNote offers. I can't speak for the QT model, but the BT keyboard is among the most satisfying and comfortable Braille keyboards I have ever typed on. The Braille display is crisp, not "mushy" like some other units I have tried, and the thumb keys in of themselves are invaluable and are one of the reasons I just can't see myself giving up on a BrailleNote just yet. I was sick of reading on other notetakers with my left hand firmly in place on some silly panning button that was a pain to use. The processor, contrary to what many have said about the hardware, is snappy and responsive; I think many would be interested to know that it outstrips the Omni's by a mile. The Braille support on the BrailleNote has always been, in my opinion, unrivaled. Whether you want to use grade 1, grade 2, UEB, or one of many multilingual Braille codes, the BrailleNote has you covered, no problem. And calculations in the calculator are written and displayed in proper math braille, unlike proprietary systems where, for example, square roots are written as something like sqrt(9) instead of 9 with the Braille square root indicators on either side. Not to sound as though my soul purpose with this message is to compare the BN to other notetakers, but I have never seen such superior Braille support anywhere else. While many have requested further hardware upgrades, keep in mind that this would be quite costly, and also, the hardware is already quite competitive for a notetaking device. True, the software side of things is falling unacceptably behind at the moment, but suppose we offer constructive feedback in a dignified manner as opposed to general trashing of Humanware and the BrailleNote, profanity, and angry words. Not only is that undignified, but it will not effect any change because people who write like that are simply not taken seriously. At my university, for example, we submit course evaluations every term, and we are advised that while constructive feedback (such as requesting a different format for lectures) will be taken into account, while silly comments (like how much someone hates a particular class or professor) will simply be discarded. So let us not blow things out of proportion because our BrailleNotes still offer many advantages over other notetakers (and, indeed, advantages which I am not willing to part with), and we should keep this forum as a valuable means of exchanging questions, feedback and suggestions, rather than needless and inaccurate trashing.
