Hello Anne: When you set up an internet connection, begin from Main Menu. 1. Press E, S, D A. If you have never used an account, you will be told that it doesn't exist, and you'll be ask if you want to create one called "directory of accounts." You will answer yes. 2. Your next prompt is "account name?" Enter one that will mean something to you. 3. User name is next, and generally, it is the first part of your email address up to the "at" sign. 4. Password is next. Most of these are lower case letters, and if they have numbers, write them in computer braille, or lower case. 5. Your name is next, so write that in. 6. Your email address is next, and you will see that computer braille is required. This time, you will write all of it in. 7. Pop server is next, and again, it needs to be in computer Braille. 8. Secure Connection for Pop Server is next. These are set to "no." If you are using an SSL connection, you will need to press Y for Yes. 9. Smtp server is next, and computer Braille is required. 10. You will see "secure connection for Smtp server. It is set to "no." Again, if you are using SSL, it needs to be set to yes, by pressing Y. 11. Smtp authentication is next, and usually, they are required, so change the "no" setting to yes. 12. If you are not using SSL, leave your pop port at 110. If you are, change it to 995. 13. Leave your Smtp at 25, unless you are using SSL, then it would be 465. 14. Press 26-chord to add the record.
Now, you need to set up the Connectivity Side. 1. From Main Menu, press Options, C, C. 2. At the Entry List for Configuration prompt, press Enter. 3. Connection Configuration Name is the next prompt, so again, give it a name that is familiar. 4. If you are using a dial up connection, press Enter at the Internal Modem prompt. Otherwise, press dots 34-chord to get to another connection, such as ethernet connection. 5. If you're using dial up, you'll be asked for the phone number you'll use. You'll be asked for your Service User Name again, as well as your password. If you are not using a dial up connection, after you select what type of connection you are using, press Enter. 6. Obtain an Ip Address Automatically is next, and most of the time, this is yes. 7. Generally, you can exit by pressing dots 26-chord, unless you require a proxy server, which I wouldn't think you would. If you go wireless, Ambicom is about the standard one. I believe G 54 is the one being used these days. Good luck, and hope you enjoy the internet. ___ Replies to this message will go directly to the sender.
