Yes... I've experienced this too. More often than not, the point is where 
there is a format marker, either a font marker or one of those stupid ones 
that is denoted $fm that you cannot find, yet it interferes with find.  Both 
types of format markers hide until you put the cursor on them.

I have not found that the entire file is erased, but I find that
with non-keyword files, such as .doc files, sometimes the
contents will be erased if you switch from keyword to another
application or, though it is rare now, when you exit to the
keyword menu or try to save the file with space-s.  In the case
of switching tasks, no errors are given but the file contents
will be gone when you open the file again by switching back to
it.  In the latter cases, the famous "exception: converter.
Access violation [reading or writing] [what I assume to be a ram
address]" error is displayed, and all text past a point in the
file is gone, though I have not been able to find a system by
which this point is determined.  Again, though, this is very rare
in the latest ks versions; in fact, I am not sure when it last
happened.
