Hi, Everyone!
I upgraded last night, and it turned out okay, but it
did something strange.
I downloaded the two files directly to my storage card
that had been formatted for the upgrade. I ran the key
first, then, ran the software. During the writing part
at the end, it got to a certain point, then, suddenly,
it told me that the upgrade had successfully completed,
and put me at the Main Menu. I had kept my finger on
the display so I could read the percentages during the
whole thing, and it switched to the completion message
at around 17 percent according to the display. I went
in and checked to see what version was listed, whether
the Main Menu had Chat and Navigation, and downloaded
some email, and it all checked out okay. It just threw
me when it suddenly stopped the percentage stuff for I
thought it would go all the way to 100 percent. It was
weird. <smile

I also upgraded and am happy to say I haven't run into
the
endless cycle of resets mentioned by some others on
this list.
Did this reset problem start immediately after
completion of the
update and are you able to break out of it for any time
to use
your unit? Hopefully this reset thing is an anomaly
only
effecting a few units and not a major bug that will hit
many. I
know that doesn't help those who are fighting it right
now and
hopefully the tech support people will get on here
quickly with a
fix for the machines that have this problem. I assume
you
followed the upgrade instructions exactly. From reading
some
messages on the list, it is clear that some people just
shoot
from the hip with these updates and don't bother
reading the
upgrade instructions. This is not a good way to do
updates and
still be a happy camper.

resets. I
was going to
write about it yesterday but didn't have time. I am

Well, I'm upgraded to version 8, but I seemed to get
caught in
an endless
loop of resets: reset to update system files; system
files
were updated,
so do a plain reset; do another reset to update
system files,
they were
updated, etc. I remember when I had something similar
when I
first got
the mPower, and Dean Jackson had me delete my Windows
folder,
which meant
I had to reinstall GPS, but it solved the program. My
BN works
just fine;
it's just that I get an annoying reset loop.
Thoughts?
