Hello Alex and all who want to set up gmail-
Don't post very often because there's so many techi people
on this list but glad to help with setting up gmail. It's
very easy. In answer to your question- you can check gmail
anyplace but as it is web-based you need to go someplace
where you have a Wireless hotspot or some other way to
access the internet. It's also cool if you use Google
because you can log on to Gmail and set preferences and so
on to make your search results more relevant.
As to the settings:
You first have to enable gmail so that it will send your
messages to the InBox. In gmail on the PC, go to settings
then go pop settings, I think that's right, or maybe it's
called alternative devices- there is a box to check there.
Then you need to set up the BN. In Directory of email
accounts- the pop server is pop.gmail.com and the SMTP
server is smtp.gmail.com The pop port is 995. The SMTP is
port is 465. Set both these to secure connections.
Note these are the typical settings. Gmail has details of
possible others in its help pages. but ^The have worked
fine for me.
If any of you folks want to test out KeyChat send me a note
to the Gmail address below and maybe we can make a time
convenient to such a wide world and try it.
Hope this is all clear-
