That seems like a lot of money to put in to that thing. I don't think I'd go that way either.

Subject: Re: [Braillenote] RE: BrailleNote frustrations

Dear Rose:

No m'am! I was listening for specific responses to Alex's
questions, but as
is always the case with blindness products, the answers will have
to come
from some other source assuming that that other source does
remember to
address the issues raised at all.

I've just received one bad news: I bought a used MPower for
$2,000; the
Braille dots are sort of weak so I sent it in to get a quote to
have it
fixed. It has been out of the warranty period, but it does have
ONE UPGRADE
COUNT to Version 8 of Keysoft. Now guess what? The batteries
cost $87, I
bet Batteries Plus would be far cheaper and do a SUPERB job, but
I chose the
SURGICAL ROUTE anyway. The Braille WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED at a
cost of
nearly $1,900, and $50 for shipping. Total cost is somewhere
around
$2,138--I have requested for the quote to be E-Mailed to me. I
plan to POST
IT to the list once I receive it.

Sufficing to say, perhaps the time to DONATE THE ANTIQUITY to the
nearest
museum might be here as I don't see me or my company paying that
much on the
MPower's surgery.

Well, thank God I have a backup--the BrailleSense Plus! Has
issues too, but
CERTAINLY LIVES UP to its name in terms of functionality.

Sincerely,
Olusegun
