Hi Vicky,

I've had this problem a few times now and mine hasn't been due to overload on my email, or anything else on the Flash drive for that matter.

I believe mine to be due to the fact that I just find it difficult to keep the pace down and sometimes therefore want to start up another programme before the last has actually been terminated, thus there's an application out there still trying to do something!

I have had help from our Tech Support here in the UK on occasions and then have gone away and got the Flash drive back using Hyperterminal. It's been a bit of a "fiddle" and has sometimes meant I've had to repeat the process a number of times before succeeding.

Anyway, I guess you'll remember all this from your experience some while back, and you kindly advised me on one occasion.

The last time, however, I didn't succeed in getting the drive back and had to send it back for proper Tech support. They did get the drive back but said the only way they could (sort of) guarantee the drive was OK would be to install a new Flash drive. This comes, complete with motherboard, so it's not a cheap option, believe me! Even since having it done, I have had a couple of problems and now just have to remind myself to slow down, particularly if I'm trying to write "on the move".

I hope this is a bit of a help to you, Vicky, and that it gets you somewhere in your current thinking. I certainly rate my PK very highly, because there's nothing to beat its portability and almost silent operation!

I certainly don't blame you for purchasing another second-hand. I'd probably have done the same myself!

Subject: [Braillenote] BrailleNote PK flash disk
disappearing

Hi All,

You might recall that I sold my BrailleNote PK to some
friends of mine well over a year ago now. However,
although I do have other notetakers, including an mPower,
well, there is just nothing like the portability of the
PK. Thus, I just recently purchased a used one; and,
although I actually have more than one question, I'll
just ask about the flash disk in this email.
Anyway, when I had the PK before, my flash disk seemed to
disappear every once in a while. And, I want to try and
avoid that happening with the unit I have now.

I'm thinking that the thing that caused my flash disk to
keep disappearing before was caused by putting too much
email on it at one time, as I would often download more
than fifty messages at once. Thus, I'm thinking that I
could avoid this issue by having emails go to the storage
card, rather than to the flash disk.
SO, as I know others on the list have had their flash
disk go away as well, I'm wondering if there are other
reasons besides the larger amount of email that might
cause this problem? my friends who bought my PK, they
use it primarily for the GPS, and have never had the
flash disk disappearing issue.
