Hi, There could be several things: the hotel's router (the device that is used to connect multiple computers to the Internet) might have blocked the SMTP server (the server that is used to send your email), the outtgoing server might have been encrypted (secured) so that the hotel's connection might have failed or something else. I am glad to see that you are reading the manual (one of the future articles on my PBWorks site will talk about accessing built-in User Guide). Cheers, Joseph P.S. Happily studying for calculus final (and how to implement C++ functions about it...)
-----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Linda Sent: Sunday, November 29, 2009 6:49 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [Braillenote] Problem with Sending and Receiving Emails Hi everyone, We took a vacation last week and visited my mom and sisters in Florida. While away I was able to read some BrailleNote emails and replied, but could not send them. We were staying at a hotel that had an unsecured wifi. My husband and one of my daughters, who both had their laptops, had no problem connecting to the wifi without having to ask for any information from anyone. However, I couldn't. It did connect, but would not send or receive. Normally I wasn't in a position to be at the hotel during the day where the wifi was, but, one sunny day, when my girls went to the beach, I decided to go to the hotel instead and call HumanWare. I talked with a person who worked very hard to be helpful, and was very polite and courteous. While we were talking I was able to download email from this hotel, but couldn't send any. And, the next time I tried to download from the hotel the BrailleNote wouldn't do it, even though I did everything the same way. He made a few changes too, and I followed his directions, and now I can't download from home or send using my BrailleNote from home either. I will be calling HumanWare tomorrow. All this to say, if you happen to receive several emails from me as a result of my replying to messages last week but not being able to send them, please be patient with me. I don't want to come across as a nuisance as it will look like I am sending one email after the next. I wouldn't do that under ordinary circumstances. I was reading the manual as we were driving home today and found out what the dot 7 is, the backspace. I am going to read this manual every day until I have it memorized.
