Robert, I'm glad this works; I was discussing with a friend the other day the idea that it might. Those cables with two plugs are so that the device can get extra power. My guess is that the single host ports on the Apex can't give big hard drives enough juice. But using two ports probably powers them just fine. You've verified my theory.
