Yes, it's a shame, but KeyChat simply isn't a very high-functioning
Jabber/XMPP client.

To use an analogy, suppose that a POP3 mail client was developed that
only worked on non-SSL connections that used port 110, etc. and any
differing settings simply wouldn't work.

This is sort of the way KeyChat seems to work. All other Jabber
clients I have used can communicate over a bunch of varying
authentication methods and such, and can autodetect settings. KeyChat
doesn't provide any of that functionality, and if Humanware is going
to rely on developing "patches" that address incompatibility with
certain individual XMPP sites, we'll no doubt continue to see KeyChat
as a relatively hit-and-miss affair.
