Hi Penny!

The Optasia library is indeed a wonderful resource. Some of the RTF files
are however very bulky and contain formatting which the BN does not like.

What you'll need to do is to save them as plain text files before loading
them onto your Braillenote.

The way to do this is as folows (keystrokes summarised below):
1. Load the file in question into MS Word.
2. Go to File, Save As (you can also simply press F12 to get there).
3. Press Tab once, which should get you to a prompt saying "save as type".
4. Press the letter p to get to the Plain Text option.
5. Tab once to get to the "save" button and press enter
6. another prompt comes up asking which plain text type to use. Just press
enter again to accept "windows default" which is what you need.
7. Voila, you now have a plain text version of the file with the extention
.txt in the same folder as the original. This file can be viewed on the
Braillenote and as a bonus, is normally much smaller, as it does not contain
the extraneous formatting codes.

Summary of keystrokes:
After loading your file into word, pressing the following keys will give you
a plain text version:
F12, tab, p, tab, enter, enter

Hope this helps.

All of the best and God bless!
Laurent

Subject: [Braillenote] RTF

Hi, folks. I have the wonderful Optasia Ministry DVD and older CD's
of their Christian books, Bible versions, and resources. Well, I was
reading some RTF extension files on the Victor stream. they are reading
beautifully. I figured that I could look at them in braille form if I just
put them right over onto the BN. but though some of them show up, they open
and then there's some kind of little symbol at the top of the file, but
nothing in the file.
Has anyone had experience with this? I looked in the manual, and it seems
that RTF ought to read well.
What am I missing. Remember, i'm rather a simple soul, so make it simple.
Thanks if anyone can help.
Penny
