Thanks for this.  The document is a genuine .DOC file rather than the 
newer .DOCX file.  However, it does contain at least one table.  If that's 
a known limitation of Keysoft support for Word documents, then maybe I'm 
barking up a wrong tree concerning new and old bugs in the Apex firmware.

Hello Jerry:

KeyWord can not read MS Word documents made in the 
newer .docs format.  Nor can it read documents in 
earlier Word formats if the document has tables, 
columns, or other more complex formatting.

It seems from the error message that your document 
may be in the newer .docs instead of the older .doc 
file type.  Try converting it into Word 2003 format 
or into a text document by using the save as option 
under the file tab.
