Hi! Now I get a message when I try to get email that says:
cannot find pop server. ensure that the pop server entry in the directory of email accounts and the dns entries in the connection configuration database are correct. What am I missing?
With a smile,
Karen

Pop and smtp are not dependent on the type of connection; rather, they
are basically the web addresses where the bn will go to find
instructions on how to deal with Google mail.

For the pop server, type
pop.gmail.com
then say yes to the "secure connection for pop server" question.
The smtp server is
smtp.gmail.com
Again, answer yes to the secure server question. Press y at the "smtp
authentication required" question, and you should be at the "pop port"
question. Enter 995. For the smtp port, enter 465. Good luck! Oh, be
aware that the setting in the receive options list called "delete
email from server after receiving" will NOT be honored by gmail for
some reason. I cannot remember what the default is since I now use the
gmail website to check my email. HTH.

Hey! Your instructions worked! It's connected! Now, how do I set up my
google email account? I already have one, but it is asking for a pop server
and smpt server. Why would I need that with a wireless connection?
With a smile,
Karen

Most of the fields are pre-filled. Do you use WEP or WPA on your
network? You must know this before continuing. Whichever it is, you
can just space down to where the proper question is asked and press y.
For example, if you use WPA, you will space down through the list
until you hear "use WPA-PSK?" Press y here, and then enter, then type
in your password. If you use WEP, do the same for the "use WEP?"
field. Once done, press enter, then space-e (or the 12 o'clock button
on the scroll wheel) to exit. You may see "confirm changes?" or "save
this record?" Press y. Finally, scan for networks again and then move
to your network. If it does not say "active" after your network, press
enter to try to connect, otherwise exit to the connectivity menu and
press a for Active Connection Details. Here you can see if you are
connecting or connected. Alternatively to all that, just try going
online and selecting your network. If you need clarification on any of
this, let us know!

Hello all! Thanks for the responses I received regarding my cursor
routing
buttons. I have the new Apex BT 18, so I'm sure there will be upgrades
to
fix any problems that currently exist. We cannot expect perfection in
only
a few weeks! <smile>

Humanware, you are great!

Anyway, hopefully this problem can be fixed soon since I'm so used to
doing
all of my editing with those cursor routing buttons.

I tried to hook up to my wireless connection at home and thought I would
be
able to just select the name of my connection (since it found it when
searching for wireless signals), and ours is protected with a password,
so I
thought there would be a place to type that in and it would work. Just
like
my IPod Touch did. Well, no such luck. This looks quite complicated.
How
do I know what to put in all of those fields? I feel like I'm missing
something simple.

Karen Shrawder
