Sincerest thank you, Alex for sharing your own experience with
Apex, plus your thoughts on Voice Sense. Changing to Voice Sense
is not likely for me, since the learning curve for Voice Note has
been long and relatively steep.
If HW comes out with a Voice Note Apex by the end of the year,
I'm sure I will do my best to acquire one at some point
thereafter. I'll hope to take advantage of the built-in wifi and
the other features you described: smaller, lighter, and able to
use its newer Windows C software to do more things faster. And
then I'll say fast is still not fast enough.

Subject: Re: [Braillenote] Frustrated Empower User
I forgot to mention that the Voice Sense is similar to the Apex
except
it has no Braille display. You said you are a VoiceNote user, so
you
may want to consider the Voice Sense. It runs an older version
of CE
but it does do most everything the Apex does. Just a thought;

Well, I see a small speed increase, but I never have to reset
just to
go online, and I never run out of memory. KS9.01 introduced a
frustrating delay in linking which hw is trying to pin down, but
that
is a software bug since, in ks9.0, this delay was not present.
Also,
you do not have the constant need to watch out that nothing gets
stuck
on the wifi card, or that the card is in properly, or that you
do not
put a cf card in while the wifi card is in the side slot...
Also, of
course, the Apex is smaller and lighter, and I expect some
exciting
upgrades to it since it is running a much newer underlying
Windows CE
version than the mPower.

Good Friday Afternoon All:
Am I the only Empower user becoming discouraged? Each and
every
time I come off the internet to send an email, schedule an
appointment or make a file note, there's a long string of
commands that are necessary and time consuming to get back to
the
internet site, or to a new site. Over and over, it's take the
internet card out, do a series of 4-5-6 reset, plus regular
re-set, and often a 1-2-3 re-set; and then try again.
Technical Support finally told me today, "That's the problem
with
the Empower, and its limited memory for internet use. They tell
me, that's why you will need to switch to Apex as soon as
available" in my preferred Braillenote form. I'm feeling a
little used here as a consumer who is now on his second
Voicenote, and being encouraged to buy a third for what the
second unit was supposed to do. So I ask here: For those of you
who have Braillenote Apex, is it
"Night and Day" substantially quicker, easier, and worth the
investment?
