No. I didn't do anything different. It just doesn't sound choppy to me. But I only really ever use it in brf bookshare books. The slower speech in eloquence makes some of the books I read easier to understand. Especially those that go back and forth through time a lot.

Hi, Melaina, Alex, and Joseph:

Thanks so much; what quick replies!
Melaina, did you change something in the settings so as to make
elloquence less choppy? surely it doesn't read as smoothly, say, as
jaws would on a pc?
Alex, I'll take your suggestion of transferring files to a flash drive and sending them to the braille note that way. I, too, would like to avoid using active sinc if I can. If I make a word file on the apex
using grade two braille, will it translate nicely so as to read
legibly in word or as a text file on the pc?
Oh, and to answer your question, Joseph, I'm getting a bt32 (I don't really understand the point of the 18 cell, given that the size of the
unit stays the same. It is cheaper, though).
Thanks again, all of you. Though I'm disheartened that there isn't a
way to make elloquence sound less choppy.

The sound of the synthesizers depends on what you prefer I think.
For reading brf books from bookshare I use eloquence. I haven't
found it choppy so far. For most other things I use key note
gold.

Hi,
Welcome to the list, and to the world of the Braillenote.

1. I find it easiest to move files from a pc onto a storage card
or
thumb drive, then from there onto the bn. This lets me avoid
ActiveSync altogether (I am not a fan of the program, though it
is not
too hard to use). You can also email the files to yourself, or
use a
web server to upload them on the computer then download them on
the
bn. That is advanced, though, and not many people would feel
comfortable doing things that way, plus it requires an internet
connection.

2. Eloquence on the apex is choppy and horrible, at least to my
ear,
so I just stick with Keynote Gold. Humanware has said that they
have
gotten it to work better on the apex, but I have not found this
to be
the case at all. Oh, and your example sentence made perfect sense
to
me.

 Hi everyone,

So, as of a few short weeks from now, I'll be the owner of a new
braille note apex, and I can't articulate how much I'm looking
forward
to it. I just had a few quick questions, and am sincerely sorry
if
 they've been asked before.
 1) In order to transfer files to and from my computer using the
USB
cable, can I simply connect, copy, and paste? or, must I install active sinc and use that every time? I'd really like to avoid it
if I
can, but if it's fairly easy to use, it shouldn't be a problem.
What
 are peoples' experiences?
2) This is a question about elloquence. If, for instance, I want
to
have the voice read a document to me from start to finish, I
find that
it's halting--pausing slightly after every few words as if a
comma
were there when it isn't. For instance, if the sentence said:
There was a girl sitting in a dark room at the back of the
house.
Elloquence would say it like this: "there was a girl, sitting in
a
dark room, at the back of the house." (does anyone know what I'm
talking about? this halting way it speaks? if not, call me
crazy). Is
there a way to fix this?
Thanks in advance for answering my questions, or for even
reading this.
 Take care,
 -Shermeen
