I am not sure I have seen you on the list before. If not: welcome! If so: ignore this paragraph.
If you are happy with the mPower and do not need built-in wifi, a VGA port, usb braille terminal, or a unit that is not as tall as the mPower, then I would not trade in just yet; wait for the software to get upgraded, at least up to 9.1. Right now there are some battery bugs, some slowness and freezing with the web browser, and a list of insignificant, though still present, bugs all over the device. That is not to say that it does not work; it is a great machine, and can perform many tasks faster than the mPower. However, its potential has not yet been tapped. For example, it can run many programs at once, but keysoft has not yet been updated to do this; it could transfter files over bluetooth, but keysoft cannot yet do so; and so forth. That is why I suggest waiting, if you are happy with the mPower - wait until the Apex software has caught up to its potential, and you will have an extraordinary device. For the moment, though, it is really a smaller mPower with a couple improvements that you will likely not use much. That said, if you would like to, there is no major problem that I would say is a definite 'no' for upgrading; if you would like to upgrade, go for it. The mPower probably has just as many bugs, in its own way, as the Apex, and you get faster file open/close/copy times, onboard wifi, 3 usb ports, built-in dsl and vga, a scroll wheel, and some software goodies like bluetooth headset support and support for high capacity sd cards. I hope that was not too confusing! On 9/10/10, Grace Pires <[email protected]> wrote: > Hi list: > > Is anyone using the Braille Note Apex 18? If so, are there bugs or features > tat do not work?
