Carol, for javascript: you will never need to turn it off. It is
possible that, if a page is constantly refreshing itself, turning js
off may stop that from happening, but I do not believe that js is
related to security dialogs and things like that. It cannot hurt to
turn it off, though, so if you want to give it a whirl, go for it. A
reset will turn it back on I imagine, though you could always turn it
back on manually, of course.
