Hi,
If the adapter's getting warm, then you may have a short in the adapter cable somewhere. One way to find out for sure, if you're not nervous about such things, is to give it the old tongue test. Just place the tip of the adapter on your tongue for a fraction of a second, like you would with the terminals on those flat 9-volt batteries. You'll get a bit of a jolt, but it won't harm you, nor will it harm the adapter. .

BTW, the adapter for the Apex gives a low enough voltage that the tongue test doesn't work.

Subject: [Braillenote] BrailleNote Not Recognizing the AC Adapter

Hi, everyone. I have been charging my BrailleNote mPower 7.2 without problems until yesterday. Then the unit didn't turn on and show the message "AC Adapter on" as it usually does when I plug it in, and the unit isn't getting warm. When I check all the information on the battery status, the messages don't indicate that the battery needs to be reconditioned or recalibrated. I have had a notetaker for 15 years, and whenever its battery was worn out, it simply wouldn't hold a charge for more than an hour, but this BrailleNote simply isn't recognizing that it has an adapted plugged into it. The adapter is getting a little warm, so power is getting to it. Any thoughts?

Thank you for your help.
