The gps would have to be reinstalled with the license from the
senderogroup web site. If it is the school's bn then they would
need to give you the pass word to log into that account.

Hi,
Don't worry - as soon as I find the installer file, I'll email it
to you.
There's really no way for HW to fix this, since it's the
combination of how the Apex's system software works and different
storage modes in place now.
Cheers,
Joseph

Hi Joseph and everyone. I managed to reinstall the dictionary
back into my
apex. I still don't know what I'll do about the GPS. The
navigation menu
just disappeared which makes no sense. I'm not to worried about
the GPS
though because I don't really use it. But my teacher is
concerned because
they got the GPS so that other sstudents could use it too. It's
the school's
braillenote, so I'm glad it's not mine. So many issues we're
dealing here
with. I hope HW is working on these problems.

Hi,
I bet it was done that way to avoid tech support costs and to
prevent users
from messing up their data (same goes with Clean Reset under

reserved for
system files and schoolwork docs.
For Sabbahattin: If you recommend it so, I'll rewrite "Exploring
Resets"
article on my site to include info on your advise.
Cheers,
Joseph

I do confirm that a factory reset (which is sometimes the result
after a
large upgrade and then a long period of no reset) is safe, and
yes, you will
need your software packages but not your licenses. In fact, I'd
advise a
factory reset over a standard "Clear settings" reset, since it's
more
complete and useful. Unfortunately, HW are now storing even
more than they
have before into the system store, probably in the registry, so
you'll have
to go hunting for every possible setting and putting it back, as
only a few
important ones are now stored in keysoft.ksd on the Flash Disk.
I'm no
longer backing up anything except the pronunciation dictionary,
because it's
just a waste of time. Instead, I just copy the package from a
folder called
"Reinstall" on my SD card into the root, hit reset, and then go
about
setting things up again. Keep everything on an SD card, and
don't use
KeyPlan or KeyMail, and even a full erase is "Safe". I don't
know why HW
don't just document it.
Cheers,
Sabahattin
