Hmmm... very true. That's kind of like you said in the chat as well. Maybe the law of supply and demand could work here: If enough people demand it, it will be supplied.

Subject: sdk (was zip discovery!)

Well, a few things to think about:
1. We first need to keep hounding hw to actually give us the
thing,
and it can't cost much money since we might then have to charge
for
anything we create. Besides, the Hims sdk is free, so for hw to
compete they should match that.
2. The sdk needs to offer the ability to modify existing menus
and
programs. If we can only add programs under a special menu, then
we
could not offer a file options menu, submenus on the main menu, a
timer option in the time menu, and many other things that should
be
integrated into keysoft.

But if you did have one, can you imagine the possibilities?
Games
written for the BN, uh... extensions to current aps, I imagine
Alex, that you and Joseph have a pretty good knowledge of code
and stuff, and other users do as well. You guys along with
others, I feel, could really extend the capabilities of the BN
much further than they are now. And if HW improved and extended
on our ideas and your written programs... wow, that would be *
awesome! *
Josh
PS: And not to exclude other users either. Those of us who do
not have programming knowledge could be your idea base, the
people who you get the ideas from. You could do like a survey
of
who wants what, what features need to be added and stuff like
that. Man, I think I may be on to something here. Thoughts?

Exactly!

thoughts there.

I agree. There should also be a full-blown file options menu,
accessed
with enter-o, like the one in keyweb. This would hold all the
commands
(copy, move, translate, erase, import, export, zip/unzip,
protect,
rename) that we can, or should, be able to access with shortcut
keys.
It would also include information about the file, and a way to
associate a file type with a program, or at least some kind of
"open
with" option. For example, if you went to directory and pointed
to an
html file, you could open up the file options, go to open with,
and
select keyword to edit the html file instead of view it. This is
especially useful with unrecognized file formats, like program
source
code. You could also choose to open a brf book in keyword
instead of
the book reader.

I just think it would make everything easier. This is
especially
true because I use Gmail online to send email when I'm in school
and not having to go through the menus to translate files to
.doc
format would save time. As for importing files I import files
in
class and having backspace with I would make everything shorter
there as well. Just my thoughts there.

I feel that these commands (translate, import) should have
shortcuts. Import could be: Backspace with I in file lists, and
translate could be : Backspace with T, also in file lists.
Thoughts?

Hi,
The QT command is CTRL with Z. This is a generic command,
meaning that it can be used on a file, a group of files or a
single folder (multiple folder and file/folder combo zippings are
not supported).
Each command under File Manger has a dedicated shortcut from file
lists (except translation and folder management).
Cheers,
Joseph

When you want to zip a file, and you are on the file itself,
press backspace z (bt models.) I do not know about qt models.
Just thought I would let you all know.
