Hi Jasmine,

Do you have an Apex with KS 9.1? If so, there's
a new option they've added in the KS upgrade where there's an option to zip and unzip files in the utilities menu. When you use this, does it still not work?

Hi,
Fortunately, I can download the books just fine. However, I
cannot unzip them.

Jasmin,
I tried to download a book today from Bookshare on my Apex.

No go. It was the same issue as the book would not unpack.

So, I would say no one has fixed this problem yet, and I sure
wish they
would.

Crystal

Hi,

I know that this is a little different than the thread about the
jibberish
on the page, but I have a question. I know that some of us have
had the
problem where we can't unzip Bookshare books. Is this still
going on with
anyone else? Does anyone know whether or not HW and bookshare
fixed the
problem?

Try re-downloading the book, after a reset, but give it a
different
name before pressing enter to start the download. Failing that,
you
will have to download and unzip it on a pc, unfortunately.

Yes, the problem of the site locking up the bn does often happen
on
mPower units due to the lower memory and ram management of
ce4.2. Even
the apex, while it does not lock up, is slow at using the site.
For
this reason, I have taken to just doing all my book downloading
on the
pc, putting everything on a thumb drive, then moving the books
from
there into the "my books" folder of the bn. I then unpack them
as I
read them.

Hi all,

I'm attempting to download a book (The Blithedale Romance by
Nathaniel Hawthorne, in BRF format) from bookshare.org but am
encountering a problem. The book seems to download with no
irregularities, error messages, etc, but instead of appearing as
it should, it comes through as a document with an illegible
title
("PK" followed by a long series of symbols and numbers), which
contains about two pages of gibberish. I think I may have asked
this on the list before, but has anyone else experienced this
problem, and is there a way to fix it?

Also, speaking of Bookshare, do others find that they can
only
download one book before the website stops working and the
BrailleNote needs to be reset?

Thanks very much in advance for any help!

Lucy
