Hi,
Whatever you make changes to, such as adding a new address or deleting a
connection configuraiton requires you to backup the desired files to another
folder. Backing up essentially means copying stuff to another location for
safety and for easy restore. The default system files, in computing terms,
is part of what programmers, computer professionals and manual writers call
a ROM image - the files and other crucial information for a device stored as
a file archive that is stored on a memory chip that rarely gets modified.
And yes, BN has Flash ROM chip (mPower has 64 MB, Apex (I bet) has either 64
or 128 MB) for storing all sorts of system files and info (on the mPower,
you can access these files and modify them (well, not exactly modify them);
on the Apex, somebody found a clever technique of accessing these ROM
files).
Cheers,
Joseph P.s. I expect discussions like this to pop up again later...

So, can you back up these files by hitting backspace with b,
then? Does it back that stuff up when you just do a regular
backup in utilities? That is, hitting b from the utilities menu,
choosing backup, and selecting a folder to back up.

Hi,
Which reminds me: I need to incorporate this info to the site...
And yes,
it's Apex only - mPower and under requires some complicated
instructions.
Cheers,
Joseph

Ah, backspace-r. Thanks.
I should have said that this is on an apex; I don't believe
backspace-r works on previous models.

 Hello all,
Can someone remind me how to restore default keysoft files? I
was
trying to delete my connection configurations this morning and
thought
I'd be extra thorough and erase the definition file as well as
the cdb
file. Now the bn is not letting me create configurations at
all, it
just errors out on me and closes the connectivity menu. I think
that
if I can give it a connection configurations definition file it
will
be happy again, but I don't remember the command. Thanks!
