There's tables of computer braille in the appendices of the BN manual. If they don't have the symbol you need, then you'll have to use the unicode tables.

If you wanted to, you _could connect an external qwerty keyboard to the Apex and write your math using it. You may still have to access the unicode tables.

If you have a PC, there is software which will translate math into Nemeth and, I think, Nemeth into math. (I'm not sure about the Nemeth into math translation.) But you could try the software out. One program I know of is called Scientific notebook.

If worse comes to the very worst and you can't figure out a way to put your math homework in writing, you could record them onto tape using the good old cassette dictating machine! There are probably some digital ones out now.
