Hi all,

 

I'm very new to the list, which a friend linked me to and I would like to
ask a few questions on here about my new apex. I just received it last week
and I've been having some very severe issues which have confused humanware
tech support engineers on two continents. *no exaduration*

 

I'm using MS windows 7 x64, jaws 13 and office 2010 with an apex qt32
running keysoft 9.2, to get the specs out of the way.

I am completely unable to sync or even establish a sync partnership with the
windows mobile device center.

I can see the apex in my computer, it shows up, I can even copy files to and
from it., but I have no sync partnership. The windows mobile device centre
flashes error when I connect the unit, or sometimes, I just get a crash on
the screen that says, please wait for windows Mobile Device Center to load,
or some such similar thing. But when I connect the Apex, I hear the audio
file announce, Device connected, every time. I would like to get a
partnership up and running, so that I can sync files across, as I am a law
student and have to take notes or other details on the go, which I need to
use later on my home machine. I don't feel that I should have to manually do
this, especially since the Apex advertises its seemless integration. 

 Keysync on the Apex says that it cannot establish a connection, check that
Keysync is active and there is no firewall, ETC ETC. I have tried this with
my antivirus program, AVG, disabled. I have checked the windows firewall
exceptions and even turned off windows firewall at one point, with the same
result.

My keysync software and my windows mobile device centre software are up to
date and verified to be so by a humanware support technition. I have
uninstalled them, reinstalled them as admin and done all the logical,
reasonable things that one might do in this situation. I even tried this
exact same thing on another laptop with the exact same specs, EG: win 7 X64
ETC, and I get the same result, so this problem is completely reproduceable.

I've lost a lot of time over this and am beyond frustrated. This is my first
note taker and I had expected something far smoother. I must confess that if
these issues are not resolved, I will be taking the unit back, as devices
that cannot stay in sync with one another are no use to me. The only thing
I've yet to do is reformat the entire Apex and see if that fixes it, which I
am loathed to do as I will lose my oxford dictionary licence.I think anyway.

 

Any help would be more than greatfully received!
