Hi Christina,
About your second question about the short in the display. My
Braille display stopped working in August. I thought for sure it
was something major. However, the dealer and repair folks I dealt
with locally couldn't find anything majorly wrong like burned out
components. So they thoroughly cleaned the Braille display, dot
by dot. It worked and has been fine ever since. Hopefully that
will be all yours needs.
