Hi,

I gree with Henry on that. There are some words that really don't have antonyms. Service is one of them.

Subject: Re: [Braillenote] Thesaurus Question

Good Day:

Some entries do, in fact, offer antonyms. To access these, press control enter on a QWERTY keyboard, or space with dots 2-6 on a braille keyboard. As for the specific question of service, it does not appear to have antonyms for that word, and I can't really think of any single words which would contradict the meaning of service off the top of my head.

Hi listers. Can someone clarify something for me? Isn't it typical of a thesaurus to include antonyms as well as synonyms? The thesaurus which is part of the Oxford Dictionary software doesn't include antonyms and I find this frustrating. Today, I couldn't think of the antonym for service, regarding offering service to a customer. I really needed to locate it in the thesaurus but, of course, there were no antonyms. What are people's opinions as to the inclusion of this in the Oxford Dictionary software and how viable is it? After all, isn't this something which sighted dictionary and thesaurus users would be able to access as a matter of course?

Thanks.

Michele
