Hi,
The "click" would mean the reset button itself would make some sort of a small clicking noise when pressed. Here are the rundown of resets (in order of severity) for reference (including ones not covered in the user guide; note: use it with caution, as explained below): * Warm Reset: Press the Reset button. Used to restart the Apex when asked by upgrade or feature installation; when the Apex seem frozen. When this reset is done, Apex will try to save current device information before restarting with potentially unsaved data being lost. * Hard (unconditional) Reset: Press and hold the reset button (for about five seconds) until Apex beeps. Used mostly when the Apex seem frozen and if Apex does not respond to press of the reset button. Similar to when the power or battery is suddenly removed from a computer. If data is not saved, it'll be lost. * Clear Settings (Registry) Reset: Press Reset with DOTS 4-5-6 (JKL). This is used to go back to factory settings and to reinstall missing system files. This also erases Bluetooth pairing information and partnership info on ActiveSync/WMDC. * Clean (ROM) Reset: Press Reset with DOTS 1-2-3 (FDS). Used for reinitializing the system files to original state and removes installed extensions (be sure to have a copy of the installation files before proceeding with this). * Factory Restore and Flash Disk Format: Backup your files from Flash Disk, as this is used to reformat the Flash Disk and to reinitialize system files. After backup is done, from Main Menu, go to Options/Support Information Mode then press BACKSPACE with DOTS 1-2-4-5-6 (CTRL with FN with E). If you would like to proceed, say "yes," otherwise say "no." After saying "yes," BrailleNote will shutdown while formatting progresses, then it'll perform Clean Reset. This info is based on Apex. Again note them with caution, as doing them at wrong times means lost data.
Cheers,
Joseph

Subject: [Braillenote] types of resets

Hello,
Can anyone give me a current rundown of the various resets? I've checked the manual and the clear reset says something about the unit clicking, which it doesn't. I have a feeling the appendix is out of date but not sure. Someone yesterday said that HW doesn't monitor the list, and I know that
they do.
I understand the frustration many feel about the features that the Apex doesn't have, and I feel some of that too. But to compare the Apex with a mainstream mobile device ignores the fact that this is a specialized
market, with far less money at it's disposal.
I can't imagine buying anything else, given the intuitiveness of the command structure which is important for those of us who learned the system
on our own.
