Hi Jessica, background processes includes alarms, the current
state of applications such as the wordprocessor, and of course
Keysoft itself. Usually despite referring to the BrailleNote
being "off" it's really just in a kind of standby mode, but some
processes are still running in RAM memory. That is why you don't
need to save changes to a document before you switch off - it's
still open in RAM.
When you put your unit in deep sleep mode, you are in fact
shutting down the BrailleNote. When you next want to use it,
Keysoft will need to reboot and load back into memory, and all
unsaved changes will be lost.
