Hi Charis,
Which form fields couldn't you find? Both username and password?
What address did you go to to log in?
This may not be the problem, but I know for me on google plus, on
the mobile log-in page, the box to put your e-mail in won't pof
up till you put your password in, press enter, wait for the next
page to load, press enter with o and enter, and fill in the
security alert dialogue that will pop up only then.. But I never
had this issue with gmail.

Grant,
Thank you for your good explanation. When I tried logging on to
my own gmail
account using the BrailleNote because I basically thought this
was the
process, I couldn't get to the right form fields to log in. Any
tips would
be appreciated.

of

Charis, this method entails using an Email account that provides
a preview
of .DOCX files, or any other files which the BrailleNote
currently does not
support, to webmail users, without your having to download the
file first.
For example, Gmail works well in this respect.
Essentially, you would want to Email the .docs file to yourself.
Then you
would access it by logging into www.gmail.com. By default,
you'll be in a
very stripped down version of Gmail designed to work well on a
mobile phone,
so go to the link labelled "Basic HTML" to arrive in a more fully
featured
version of Gmail (you can bookmark the resulting page for easier
access if
you wish). Then select the message you just sent to yourself,
and near the
bottom of the page will be a list of the attachments. You can of
course
download the DOCX file, but there should also be a link next to
it labelled
"View as HTML," which will put you into a web page with the text
of your
DOCX file. You can read it there or copy it to the clipboard,
paste it in
Keyword, etc.
Note that this also works well for a variety of files including
PDFs.
This method is a bit cumbersome, but it does work. I hope I
explained it
satisfactorily!
Cheers,
Grant

Thank you to all those who responded to my question regarding my
question about docx files.
One of the suggestions was to use a web based account such as
gmail.
Does it matter if the account is an imap vs. pop3 account? What
is the
process for reading these files if Office is not on the machine?
Thank you.

Hi Charis,
Welcome to the list!! To answer your question, there is
unfortunately
no way to read DOCX files in the latest version of KeySoft.
However,
there is a way to convert them using a service called
RoboBraille. Here is
what you do:
1. On your BrailleNote, send an email to
[email protected].
2. In the subject line, put in the file format in which you
want the
file converted. For example, you can convert the file to .doc,
txt, or
.brf.
3. Attach the original DOCX file to your email.
After you send your email, you should see an email within a few
minutes with the converted file attached.
Hope this helps,
Chris

Hello,
I am new to the list and am learning a lot. I am working with
someone
who is purchasing a BrailleNote and will have version 9.2 of
KeySoft.
Can you read Office 2007-10 files (specifically docx files)? I
thought
that this was one of the new features in the latest upgrade but
can't
find anything to support that.
If you can't read them is there a way to convert them in case
someone
emails you and you don't have access to a computer?
Thank you.
