Hi,
In some cases, you might need to press SPACE along with the character dot combination you wish to type.
Cheers,
Joseph

Subject: Re: [Braillenote] Inputting Email addresses to Iphone With Apex

The at sign, at least in American, is dots 4 and 7 (backspace with 4). To enter this, you must turn on 8 dot braille, which I leave on all the time anyway to avoid grade 2 mistranslation problems. Hit space-g to get into uncontracted, then space-2-3-6 for 8 dot braille. You should now be able to enter the at sign with no problems. This also
helps for capital letters, braces, the underscore, and other
characters that use 8 dots.

First of all, thanks to all for such wonderful feedback on pairing the
Iphone to apex. The podcasts are great! I've got it working.

Has anyone been successful at typing e-mail addresses in the contact list with the apex? I've tried, but whenever I enter the "at" sign it reads and displays it as the "percent" sign. In computer braille, isn't the "at" sign dot 4 or chord u and then dot 4? I've tried it both ways and it keeps showing up as a percent sign? Is it best to have contracted braille off? I know there's the problem of not typing fast enough it will assume you're writing something unintentional. Wasn't sure if possibly having the contracted braille off might help with the "at" sign problem Thanks in
advance for your wonderful feedback.
