Keith and everyone,

To set up a Gmail account (or any other email account, for that matter) in Keymail, go to the Keymail menu by pressing e from the main menu. Then space down (on the BT) until you see "setup options," and press enter. In the Keymail setup menu, space down to directory of email accounts and press enter on it. Then in the directory of email accounts menu, space to add an email account and press enter. To set up a Gmail account with Keymail on the BrailleNote, enter the following settings into the enqry list:

Account Name: whatever you want to name your account, for example "home" or "work." Username: your Gmail email address, which for me is [email protected].
Password: your email password.
Your name: your first and last name or just your first name, whatever you want it to show up as when someone gets an email from you.
Your email address: your Gmail email address again.
POP server: pop.gmail.com.
Secure connection for POP server: yes.
SMTP server: smtp.gmail.com.
Secure connection for SMTP server: yes.
SMTP authentication required: yes.
POP port: 995.
SMTP port: 465

As far as tutorials for using Keymail, refer to the email chapter of your BrailleNote's manual and/or check out www.braillenoteusers.info for more information written by BrailleNote users about the BrailleNote, including Keymail. In fact, the BrailleNote Users development team is currently working on an article about common issues with Keymail and their solutions; stay tuned to the list for more information to be announced soon.

Hope this helps,

Subject: [Braillenote] Using Gmail Accounts

Hi,

I am interested in teaching my students how to use a Braille Note or Firefox
to send and receive email with a gmail account. If there are any
step-by-step instructions or pod casts on how to do this, that would be
great.

Thank you,

Keith
