Hi Chris and list,
As it turns out, we've already covered this in detail on our site. To access
it, go to:
http://www.braillenoteusers.info/articles/file%20and%20folder%20management/A
ccessing-files-and-folders-stored-on-other-computers.php
A general recommendation about articles: I'd like to personally recommend
that if you have any article or podcast ideas, please try to come up with
topics not covered on our site. This helps us avoid duplicate articles.
Thanks.
Cheers,
Joseph

Subject: [Braillenote] the BrailleNote Network

Hey listers,
I've recently discovered how to connect to a network on my BrailleNote.
Below is my article that I've writen to try and explain it.

BRAILLENOTE--Connecting to a Network

The article below explains how to connect your BrailleNote to a network,
create network folders from a computer or laptop, and how to access them.

  Equipment
To carry out the instructions given in this documentation you will need:
a laptop/-puter
a BrailleNote (any model)
an internet resource with both devices use

What is a network and how does it work?
A network server is a colection of computers and/or laptops which provide
access to other things, such as the internet. A client is another device
which uses the services given by the network server (the group of
computers). So, in this case, the BrailleNote is the client and the
computer/laptop that you are using is the network server. A network folder
is basically a folder on your computer which you can access on your
BrailleNote.

How do I create a network folder on my PC?
Well, first of all you need to go to the folder of your choice.
Note: Do not press enter on the folder. Just focus on it with the cursor.
When on the folder you wish to become accessible, enter properties
(altogether and enter) and swsdch tabs (control with tab) until you find
`sharing tab`.
Next, click `advanced sharing` and click `share this folder`. Then press
permision button and press `allow changes`. Then press OK. You will be
returned to the main properties dialog. From there, press OK again and
you've done creating a network folder.

How do I connect mn BrailleNote to my PC?
If you go to your file manager and then to directory you should have a
list of drives. As long as you are connected to the internet, an option
called `network` should be there. Click enter on this.
Next, press space until you find `browse all files` and enter on this. At
the next prompt enter your computer name. e.g. owner-pc Then enter your
password at the next prompt. After this select yes to update the default
log-in information.
Then press space with e. Press y and you should be connected.
When you've set your folder on your PC you should be able to select it.
Then, yay, you've done it!

And that's all there is to it.
  Thanks for reading!
