The list of network folders method works on some because I have
tried it on a windows 7 and vista and xp. But my friend has to
use the other way to access the network.

The "list of network folders" method will not work under Windows
7 because of differing network architecture in use, unless
someone found a workaround. We're aware of this issue (and I'm
sure HW is also).
