They use the Youtube API to pull the flv file (the actual video file)
from the Youtube server, then play it back. There is a dedicated
Youtube app you have to use for this, they don't support flash on
websites, and flash is the usual method of playing back flv files.
This is how I understand it and I could be wrong; google can tell you
more.
