Hi,
Yes, I'm afraid that once the BrailleNote takes a drink and develops a
problem, there may be no solution but some serious rehab, and that,
unfortunately, can be very expensive. One day my MPower was sitting on my
desk and when I went to the kitchen and brought back two glasses of water,
one for me and one for my student, I accidentally bumped the desk and, you
guessed it, water sloshed out of one glass and landed squarely on the
Braille display. I watched it die; it was oh, so sad. Although there was
nothing physically wrong with the display itself, the water did a number on
the unit's motherboard, and that cost me around $1,300 to replace. Needless
to say, I was seriously bummed.
So don't be surprised if you get hit with a hefty repair bill. If, as you
say, the Braille is still somewhat functional, maybe it won't be that bad.
If you have access to an air compressor or at the least some canned air,
gently, I repeat, GENTLY blow out the display and see what happens.
Hope this helps.
Tom

Oh man... looks like it'll have to be sent in. Seems that water got
into the display. I had this happen with a can of carots (yes, you
read that right, lol) and it had to be fixed.

Hi folks,
A couple nights ago I was going to eat somewhere in downtown
Denver. When I got to the bus stop with the apex, it was not
raining. But when I got off the bus with the gps going, it was
raining steadily as I tried to find the restaurant. Long story
short, the braille display doesn't work quite the way it's
supposed to. Any ideas on how to fix this?
