try holding the reset button down for 5 seconds. this is a different reset then just pressing the button and letting it go right away. This reset works for me when the other one does not.

Subject: [Braillenote] Any Suggestions?

Hello List,
I'm afraid I'm going to have to take my apex into the shop for repair, but
first I wondered if you had any suggestions.

I charged it last night. It had been working perfectly fine. I went to turn it on this morning and the braille display didn't come up. I then hit the reset button. It beeped and displayed, "starting keysoft." It didn't do it's short little tune to take me back to the main menu. Even when I turned the machine off, "starting keysoft" still remained on the display.

I might try charging it again tonight. I've had my apex almost 18 months and someone said that that's about how long the battery lasts, so it may be time to switch batteries. I've tried taking the battery out and putting it back in. No luck. Two weeks seems like an awfully long time without the
apex.
