Hi,
The thumb-keys will only work when the braille display is on. If
it is turned off, the thumb-keys aren't necessary and you'll just
have to use the space bar. Regarding your other problem, that is
rather strange. While typing this message, I experimented and
the display didn't go blank. However, it did when I tried it in
a document in Keyword.
