[Braillenote] problems installing active syn

Hello,
I've been trying to install active sync with out much success.  I went
to the braillenote website and downloaded the software active sync 3.7.
I came very close to getting it installed, but I keep getting a message
saying that the com port cannot be opened.  By the way, I'm using a
serial connection.  Any help given here, will be greatly appreciated.
