[Braillenote] enabling visual display?

Hi.
I am atempting to enable the visual display option under
the options menu.
According to the manual, I need to press n to
turn it on.
this does nothing except give me the low tone
that indicates an illegal key has been pressed.
This braillle note is running KeySoft v5.1.
does this feature work?
I was hoping to use it to demo the braille note
to some people that are going to visiting
the compnay where I teach.
