Nope, Paul, the information you got isn't true for my case.  When I got my BN 
in August 2001, the value reported was at 35,000+.  When I sent it in for new 
batteries, the reported value, like I said, was at 19,000+.  And when I got it 
back, it was 39,996 and had stayed above 33,000 until now (it's at 33,280).  If 
you want, tell the tech support guy you spoke to about this, a simple phone 
call to me can prove this.
