Bob, Did you mark those email to move them to the trash? If so, then I'm 
extremely surprised it ONLY took 24 minutes.  *laugh* If you did, then remember 
that it is a whole lot faster to just delete every message after it has been 
read rather than marking them and waiting 3 years for them to move.  But 8 
minutes to empty the trash? Well, I just backed up my database which had 950 in 
the db and was sluggish beyond belief, and deleting email only took me 4 
minutes at the most.  You must have one big db lol.  But then again, other 
members on this list have said that deleting individual msgs sometimes takes 10 
seconds, a problem which has never happened with me.  Laura
