Dear Paul,

The apostrophe is not the same symbol as the single quote.  Many sighted
people think it is, but it isn't!

This is especially true for braille.  The apostrophe is dot 3 but the single
quotes are dot 6 2,3,6 for the opening quote and dots 3,5,6 3 for the
closing single quote.  These symbols are two-cell signs.

When sighted people use the so-called "smart quotes" in Word, it plays havoc
with screen readers because apostrophes are read as single quotes.

No, No, no!  The single quote and the apostrophe are two different symbols!
